Inducing Labour

As my EDD is fast approaching, we are anxiously anticipating the arrive of our Bundle of Joy. I sometime do wonder if she will only arrive after the due date & whether induction is necessary since she is already so big.

An induction is required if:

  • your water broke but you are not having contractions
  • your baby still hasn't arrived by 2 weeks after the due date (when you're considered post-term — more than 42 weeks into your pregnancy)
  • you have an infection in the uterus (called chorioamnionitis)
  • you have certain risk factors (e.g., gestational diabetes or high blood pressure)
  • there is not enough amniotic fluid
  • there is a problem with the placenta
  • the baby is not growing appropriately

Some mothers request elective inductions for convenience, but these do come with risks. Doctors try to avoid inducing labor early because the due date may be wrong and/or the woman's cervix might not be ready yet.

We just gonna sit tight & wait for our baby girl to be fully ready to see this beautiful world!

Week 37

This week into the year of the rabbit
Our Baby is considered a full term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn't mean she has finished growing — in fact, she's still packing on about a half pound a week.
She’s not kicking as much but stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling alot.

Right now, our little superstar is busy rehearsing for her big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (to get the lungs ready for that first breath), sucking her thumb (to prepare for that first suckle of milk), blinking, and turning from side to side.

Braxton Hicks contractions come more frequently now and last longer and more uncomfortable.

The result of my Group B strep culture came out normal but I'm lack of vitamin D.
I was advised to take 2 tablets of Vitamin D3 in the morning & 2 tablets again in the night!

Yes! 3 more weeks to go!! You are doing well, our bunny girl! See you soon!

Our Baby Shower

2 of my girlfriends from Melbourne organised a baby shower for Me.
*Traditionally, baby showers were given only for the family's first child, and only women attended.
The original intent was for women to share wisdom and lessons on the art of becoming a mother. Over time, it has become common to invite men as well.*

Cupcakes made by one of the organiser, Sharon
Our baby shower was held at Moses & Sharon place.
We had some babies- related games..

Our friends writing their wishes for us & our baby.
& guessing the size of my beautiful bellie..
We are blessed with many gifts..

Just showing off some of the gifts for lil' baby.. We are truely blessed..

All of us shared some nice afternoon tea..

We will be expecting lil' princess arrival in 2-3 weeks time!...

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous - how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

Week 36

Daddy's protective hands over our baby

At 36 weeks, Most of her systems (from circulatory to musculoskeletal) are ready for prime time, though her digestion system — which has done only practice runs so far — will kick into gear as she takes her first suckle at the breast.
She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath.

She swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

She is now weighing at 2.96 kg, head down position.

Prenatal Class

We went to our 1st prenatal class at Freemason Hospital.
It was a full-on one day class on a Sunday Morning.
We were given many informations on the birth of baby & the care of baby at home.
We also get to meet other couples who are gonna have babies soon.
We get to share our personal experiences & play some games together.
( Those games & interaction allowed us to have a better understanding of the labour process)

We were given light lunch too! The lady with the lunch trolley is our speaker, Donna.
She is a midwife from Freemason maternity ward & also conceiving her 3rd baby!!
Look at the face of the dolly.. thats how my expression gonna be during those contraction...

I'm both excited & nervous about my labour.
Praying that it will be a smooth one for all of us..

Sundress & Bibs for our Baby

Mommy Michelle made a Baby Sundress & Bibs when she was 14 years old during a home economic lesson.
She knew that she will keep it for her 1st baby.. but not sure how long she gonna wait before she got one!

After more than a decade, her dreams is finally gonna come true..
Her own lil' girl wearing something she had made long long time ago...
Baby Girl, we cant wait for you to try them on!

Week 24

This is another big week for our magical growing baby!

Checklist for this week:

1) ears: done

2) fingernails: done

3) lungs walls: secreting “surfactant”.
Surfactant is sort of what it sounds like: a surface-activated fat whose main purpose is to assist the my baby's little lungs during inflation.
My submerged baby is still breathing in amniotic fluid, preparing and rehearsing the lungs an oxygen-filled life outside the womb.

Also by now, her beautiful face is almost fully formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows & hair!

According to our obstetrician, our lil' Girl is weighing a good 750g today!

My 1st Pregnancy

It's a Lil' PRINCESS!!

Little baby on the way,
Getting bigger every day,
Kicking mommy here and there,
God please listen to our prayer.

Keep our baby safe and strong,
Let his time with us be long,
Help us teach him right from wrong,
And we shall praise thee all day long.

This little on, though not yet here,
Is loved so much, has grown quite dear.
Delivery time is growing near,
That's why we pray our plea you'll hear.

Please help up Lord, we pray to Thee
With thankful heart, on bended knee,
To raise this child that he might be,
A happy child because of me.

A baby girl...
one of the most beautiful miracles in life,
one of the greatest joys we can ever know,
and one of the reasons why
there is a little extra sunshine, laughter and happiness
in your world today.
